about

why based exists, and who we build for.

why based

most software agencies sell a template with a new coat of paint. we don't. based exists because teams that have outgrown spreadsheets, generic SaaS, and one-off scripts need something built around how they actually operate — not a workaround bolted onto a tool that was never made for them. the name is the position: we'd rather build the right thing for one team than the average thing for everyone.

who we work with

based tends to be the right fit when:

  • your team has outgrown a patchwork of spreadsheets and no-code tools
  • a critical process still runs on manual, repetitive work someone has to babysit
  • you need software that fits an existing workflow, not the other way around
  • you'd rather own the system outright than rent a generic one forever

innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.

steve jobs

a reference we hold ourselves to — not a tagline, a standard.

how we operate

clean

white space, typographic precision, restraint.

raw

one point of friction that breaks the expectation.

the ratio

95% order, 5% deliberate exception.

still open

three things we're upfront about not having pinned down yet.

our niche

we haven't locked into one industry. the identity was built not to depend on it — we'd rather earn that focus than force it.

case studies

the ones on this site are illustrative. real client work replaces them as engagements wrap — we'd rather show a placeholder than dress one up as something it isn't.

formal documents

proposals and contracts get their own pass in a later revision — today, they're written per project.
